Driver Recruitment & Retention - 3 Ways

1. Word of Mouth

  • Family business values extend to employees and contractors
  • Expectations are communicated during the screening process (no surprises when contractors receive their settlement checks)
  • Competitive pay structure in the markets
  • Our reputation for being contractor friendly leads to referrals from existing contractors (Very rarely do we need to advertise for new contractors)
  • Many contractors have been with us for over 5 years, some close to 10 years

2. Traditional Advertisements

3. Leverage Social Media

  • We use our facebook account to gather likes from Independent Contractors
  • Our advertisements asks facebook users to like our page so they can be notified of new contract opportunities
  • Once we have a new opportunity available, we are able to specifically target those who've liked our page

Recent add showing spike with 28 new likes in 72 hours

How Does the Recruitment Process Work for large scale implementations?

  • Current managers who have oversight duties in outlying areas pull resources to begin the process
  • We operate in every market in FL, so word of mouth begins to spread even in areas we have a minimal presence
  • We assign a point person at the start of the process to...
    • Place adds through CourierBoard and Criag’s List
    • Manage our Facebook page and contact those who have "liked" our page
    • Gather and review resumes
    • Prepare a package of potential ICs to give to the local logistics manager
  • …which allows us to begin the IC recruitment process prior to the local logistics manager to be hired if necessary
